Assistant Bridge Superintendent

SUMMARY:


¬ 


Reports to the General Superintendent or Project Manager. The Assistant Superintendent is responsible for field implementation of the contract documents of the projects he has been assigned.¬  In the absence of the Project Superintendent or on a project they has been assigned, they directs the field activities of employees, subcontractors and suppliers.¬  In close conjunction with the Project Superintendent or the Project Manager, they are responsible to see that their project is built on schedule and within budget.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

  • Participate with the Project Superintendent or the Project Manager in preparing a schedule of construction activities and their sequence, the organization structure and staff selection, and the Manpower and construction equipment requirements of the project for the pre-bid and post-award meetings.

  • Analyze construction equipment requirements with the Project Superintendent or the Project Manager and provide necessary equipment as required to utilize manpower efficiently.

  • Assist the Project Superintendent or the Project Manager in ordering materials and coordination of subcontractors on the project as required.

  • Direct and control the total construction of the project he is assigned to meet specifications within the time scheduled and in an efficient manner to produce the expected profit.¬ ¬ ¬ ¬ ¬ ¬ 

  • Determine, and convey to subordinates, the most efficient construction techniques to be employed to assure quality and efficiency in construction.

  • Conduct the weekly schedule and coordinating meeting.

  • Be responsible for project safety and compliance with Company safety program

¬ JOB REQUIREMENTS:


¬ 



  • Higher level of reading plans, performing layouts without supervision.

  • Basic Carpentry as it relates to the building and bracing of wooden forms and false work.

  • Drive Pile ‚€“ must be able to work off the ground positioning pile in leads, climbing ladders up to 60 feet.

  • Steel and Concrete Girder Erection ‚€“ must be able to work off the ground assembling and -guiding girders into final position, including handling as needed to preset.

  • Able to clearly explain steps, provide clear directions and answer questions while organizing subordinates.

  • Able to properly train subordinates on the tasks being performed.

  • Able to work and supervise others in a safe manner within the guidelines of the company's policies.

  • Have mathematical and analytical skills necessary to do timesheets, including quantities.

  • Able to read and check grades.

  • Able to identify potential schedule conflicts, and problems and communicate with Supervisor.

  • Able to read blueprints and formulate a work plan.

  • Basic computer skills, project management software experience, (Heavy Job) a plus.

  • Able to work days, nights and weekends as scheduled.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 5 years in bridge/heavy highway construction

  • Prior supervisory experience.

  • Valid Driver's License

Physical Requirements:


¬ 



  • Ability to lift and manipulate objects up to 80 lbs for 50 feet is required.

  • Ability to work at heights up to and above 10 feet.

  • Must be able to come to work every day.

  • 99% of time is spent working at heavy construction job sites, working in the elements

  • Some driving is required.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
